On July 30, 2020, the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan held a video conference. Ambassador Guo Min attended the event and expressed her condolences to compatriots in Azerbaijan. The heads of relevant departments of the embassy, representatives of overseas Chinese, the Chinese Dean of the Confucius Institute, the head of the Student Union in Azerbaijan, and representatives of students studying in Azerbaijan attended the meeting.

Ambassador Guo Min first conveyed the cordial care and greetings of the Party Central Committee and the State Council to the vast number of overseas compatriots. She expressed affirmation and appreciation for the compatriots who have stuck to their positions, fought against the epidemic and overcame difficulties.

Ambassador Guo said that the Chinese Embassy has been concerned about every compatriot in Azerbaijan since the outbreak of the epidemic. In order to solve existed problems, the embassy strengthened communication and cooperation with the Azerbaijani side to well handle with the problems of Chinese citizens’ residence and visa extension; released various information in a timely manner to improve the awareness of prevention; established close contacts with overseas Chinese and students for timely distribution of “health package”, and keep the consular protection phone open all day to minimize the adverse effects of the epidemic.

Ambassador Guo pointed out that although the current situation has eased, the overall of prevention and control remains severe. She hoped that the compatriots continue to increase their awareness of prevention, strictly abide by the laws and epidemic prevention regulations to ensure that all prevention measures are put in place. Participants promised that they will actively respond to the call of the party and the country, cooperate in local prevention, and take practical actions for the fight against the epidemic.
