On July 15, 2020, the finals of the 13th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Middle School students in Azerbaijan came to a successful end. The competition was organized by the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan and organized by the Confucius Institute at Azerbaijan Language University. Being affected by the local epidemic in Azerbaijan, the relevant links of the competition were carried out online and recorded as videos.

Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Guo Min said in her speech that with the joint efforts of both sides, the Confucius Institute at the University of Languages has become one of the important platforms for the Azerbaijani people to learn Chinese, making positive contributions to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two people.

At the moment of the epidemic, China and Azerbaijan are standing together with mutual assistance amid difficulties. Forging ahead in an innovative and enterprising spirit, the Confucius Institute has lifted Chinese classes from offline to online, and organized a variety of rich cultural activities, which played an active role in ensuring the normal development of Chinese teaching in Azerbaijan.

For the first time, our college broadcasted the whole process of competition on “YouTube” and other online platforms. The content included keynote speeches, online question answering, and talent show. During the competition, 7 contestants from all over the country told their Chinese learning stories with the theme of "Chasing Chinese Dreams, Living up to Days" as well as brought shows of Chinese talents such as cross talk, Chinese folk music, Chinese martial arts and traditional Chinese painting, making the whole process attracting and wonderful.

In the end, Asgarova Maryam from the 11th Middle School in Sumqayit won the championship. He will represent Azerbaijan in the 13th finals of "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for World Middle School students in China.
