After graduating from Huzhou University in 1995, Zhang Dongfei chooses to stay at the school, and successively works in the library, Science School, and Information Engineering School. In 2015, he is transferred to the International School as the deputy dean.

During the winter vacation, the task of investigation was arduous due to the many complicated mobility of international students and quite tricky management. Under the deployment of the school’s leading group for epidemic prevention and control, Zhang Dongfei led more than 40 faculty and staff volunteers to conduct three thorough investigations, checking the list and passports of students layer by layer, to ensure accurate control of international students’ information.

In order to strengthen the management of international students, faculty and staff volunteers were organized to move into the international student apartment and stay for duty. Because of Zhang Dongfei's seriousness and dedication, none of the more than 300 international students in the school have been infected.

When dealing with international students, Zhang Dongfei believes that the most important thing is to respect cultural differences. Students often invite him to participate in their festival activities, and Zhang Dongfei will be there whenever he is free. During the epidemic prevention and control period, in order to relieve the psychological pressure of international students, Zhang Dongfei took the lead in organizing various forms of sport competitions under the promise of safe epidemic prevention and control. After that, it has become common practice for international students to invite Zhang Dongfei to kick off.

Having worked in different positions in 25 years here, Zhang Dongfei has always adhered to the belief of "loving what you are doing". As a teacher, Zhang Dongfei believes that the most important thing is to learn to guide people and stimulate their internal motivation. "It is one’s luck to meet a good mentor in college." Zhang Dongfei said, who is still respectful and grateful for the mentor in his student days. This is also the reason for driving him to be a mentor for these students at the moment.
