Confucius Institute at Azerbaijan University of Languages and Baku Youth Center Sign Agreement to Launch International Chinese Teaching Site
[作者]: [来源]:Office of International Exchange and Cooperation [时间]:2025-11-04 15:39:22 [阅读次数]:13Recently, the signing ceremony for the joint establishment of an International Chinese Teaching Site by the Confucius Institute at Azerbaijan University of Languages and the Baku Youth Center was held at the Baku Youth Center. Attendees included Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, Vice-Rector of the Azerbaijan University of Languages Garibova Zhalya, Director of the Baku Youth Center Nargiz Babayeva, as well as the Confucius Institute’s Foreign Co-Director Rafig Abbasov and Chinese Co-Director Li Jihua, among other Chinese and Azerbaijani guests. More than one hundred participants, including teachers and students of the Baku Youth Center, Chinese-language teachers of the Confucius Institute, and representatives from various sectors - were present.

In her remarks, Ambassador Lu Mei stated that the friendship and growing bilateral relations between China and Azerbaijan have created opportunities for Azerbaijani youth to learn Chinese. She emphasized that China’s development is an opportunity for the world, and learning Chinese is an investment in the future. She added that the Embassy will continue to support Chinese-language teaching in Azerbaijan, facilitate youth exchanges to China, and encourage young people to learn about Chinese culture and Chinese-style modernization.

The two Co-Directors of the Confucius Institute and Director 巴巴耶娃 (Наргиз Бабаева Nargiz Babayeva)signed the cooperation agreement, officially establishing the teaching site. Under the agreement, the Confucius Institute will dispatch instructors to provide structured Chinese courses and carry out regular cultural experience activities, achieving an integrated effect that combines language learning with cultural understanding.

At the event, teachers and students of the Confucius Institute presented a dance “Clouds That Bloom,” a hulusi (cucurbit flute) solo “Fernleaf Bamboo under the Moonlight,” and a song medley “Song of Dynasties,” earning warm applause. Cultural experience areas featuring tea art, calligraphy, paper-cutting, and lacquer-fan making invited guests to interactively experience the charm of Chinese culture.

It is learned that the Baku Youth Center teaching site is the 13th teaching site established in Baku by Huzhou University’s Confucius Institute. The new site further consolidates the foundation for China–Azerbaijan language and cultural exchanges and injects new momentum into Chinese-language education in Azerbaijan. Going forward, Huzhou University’s Confucius Institute will continue to use international Chinese-language education as a bridge to build learning platforms for Azerbaijani youth and contribute to China - Azerbaijan friendship and cooperation.
