Deputy Director-General of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education Visits and Commends Brave International Student GUBAIDULLINA SHAKHNAZ
[作者]: [来源]:School of International Education [时间]:2025-06-27 17:35:03 [阅读次数]:11On June 26, Mr. Shu Peidong, Deputy Director-General of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education, together with Mr. Bao Tiehu, Deputy Director of the Department of Basic Education, and Mr. Yao Nan, President of the Foreign Student Education Management Branch of the Zhejiang Higher Education Association and Director of International Exchange and Cooperation at Zhejiang University of Technology, paid a special visit to our university to extend warm regards to international student GUBAIDULLINA SHAKHNAZ for her courageous act of bravery, and to highly praise her selfless deed.

Mr. Shu acknowledged that GUBAIDULLINA SHAKHNAZ’ heroic rescue of a drowning person in Shaoxing has touched hearts across the country and earned wide praise from the public. Her courage in the face of danger demonstrated exceptional personal character, transcending cultural and linguistic barriers. Her action has become a moving symbol of friendship between the Chinese and Russian peoples. He encouraged GUBAIDULLINA SHAKHNAZ to continue her academic pursuit with diligence, make full use of her strengths, and actively promote cultural exchanges between China and Russia, contributing to the long-term friendship between the two nations.

On behalf of the Provincial Department of Education and the Zhejiang Higher Education Association, Mr. Shu and Mr. Yao presented flowers and their best wishes to GUBAIDULLINA SHAKHNAZ.
Earlier, on June 25, Ms. Xu Huixia, Party Secretary of the university, together with Vice President Sheng Kuang (Acting President), and Deputy Party Secretary Chen Yonghua, also visited the School of International Education to extend their personal greetings to GUBAIDULLINA SHAKHNAZ.
During the meeting, Dean of the School of International Education, Prof. Jin Meilan, and Prof. Cui Bingzhen from the School of Physical Education—also coach of the university’s dragon dance team—spoke highly of GUBAIDULLINA SHAKHNAZ’ academic performance and everyday conduct. They praised her as diligent, kind-hearted, and a great team player, possessing strong moral values and comprehensive personal qualities. They believed that her courageous action stemmed from her love for life, compassion for others, and strong sense of social responsibility. GUBAIDULLINA SHAKHNAZ shared the details of the rescue incident near Bazhi Bridge in Yuecheng District, Shaoxing, and expressed sincere gratitude for the care and support she has received from the university and the wider community. Her heartfelt recount moved everyone present, revealing her bravery, kindness, and sense of responsibility in a moment of crisis.

Ms. Xu Huixia commended GUBAIDULLINA SHAKHNAZ for her exemplary courage and sense of justice, encouraging her to continue developing her academic and professional skills and to serve as a cultural ambassador, spreading Chinese culture abroad. Other faculty members present also expressed admiration for her act of heroism, stating that her courage and sense of social duty exemplify the spirit of youth at our university and have brought positive recognition to the institution. The session concluded with a group photo and presentation of flowers and blessings to GUBAIDULLINA SHAKHNAZ.
It is reported that since the morning of June 23, when GUBAIDULLINA SHAKHNAZ rescued an elderly person from drowning near Bazhi Bridge in Shaoxing’s Yuecheng District, her story has been widely covered by major media outlets including Xinhua News Agency, China News Service, Zhejiang Daily, and Beautiful Zhejiang. Her heroic deed has garnered extensive public attention and widespread praise for the brave and compassionate young woman from Russia. GUBAIDULLINA SHAKHNAZ is an undergraduate student in the Chinese International Education program at the School of Humanities. She is known for her dedication to learning and her passion for traditional Chinese culture. Actively participating in various cultural and sports events, she has won second prizes in the Women’s Speed Dragon Dance and Creative Dragon Dance categories, as well as third prize in the Traditional (Creative) Southern Lion Dance at the Zhejiang Provincial Dragon and Lion Dance Championships.
