Huzhou University Leadership Delegation Visits Hong Kong and Macau for Exchange Activities

The visit was aimed to deepen collaboration with universities in the Hong Kong and Macau regions, and to promote high-quality development in areas such as faculty and student exchanges, academic cooperation, scientific research, joint programs, faculty training, and collaborative education.


In Hong Kong, the delegation focused on the visits to The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), these two research-intensive institutions which are both globally renowned, celebrated for their international outlook, cutting-edge academic research, and excellence in education. The delegation engaged in in-depth discussions with senior faculty teams from HKU and HKUST, and they visited key laboratories, and reached multiple agreements on research collaboration and talent development.


In Macao, the delegation visited University of Macau (UM) and Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST). As a public international comprehensive research university, UM boasts strengths in fields such as traditional Chinese medicine, microelectronics, and smart city development, with 15 disciplines ranking among the globally top 1% principles by ESI and a QS World University Ranking of 245. The delegation explored potential collaborations with UM’s Faculty of Education on faculty exchanges and international joint research, establishing preliminary cooperation intentions. MUST, known for its expertise in aerospace, traditional Chinese medicine, engineering, and economic management, has nine disciplines listed in the globally top 1% by ESI and a QS ranking of 464. The delegation saw around the campus and key laboratories of MUST, investigated graduate and doctoral training programs, and signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) to collaborate on joint student training, educational management systems, technology commercialization, and talent development.
During the visit, the delegation also toured Asia Africa Group and Thinking Group in Hong Kong. Asia Africa Group has supported Huzhou University since 1989. Both sides explored the scientific operation and sustainable development of the Lu Zengyong Memorial Education Foundation. Thinking Group, a leader in high-end digital electronic product design and distribution, held talks with the delegation on promoting education and cultural heritage through the donation of artworks by Mr. Shen Zuoyao, planning for the Shen Zuoyao Couplets Art Museum, and attracting top cultural and artistic talents to Huzhou.
Additionally, the delegation also visited Mr. Zhang Zhesun, an eminent community leader who established the “Zhang Shaozai Huanyuan Scholarship” to support underprivileged students and contributed funds for the library development of Huzhou Univerisity and silk culture preservation initiatives of Huzhou. Vice President Sheng expressed gratitude for Mr. Zhang’s philanthropy and solicited his impressive advice on improving donation management and advancing Huzhou University’s development.
This exchange visit significantly strengthened Huzhou University’s ties with higher education institutions and enterprises in Hong Kong and Macau, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation in student and faculty exchanges, academic collaboration, scientific research, and talent development.
