On April 13, the 50th Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions concluded successfully in Switzerland. As one of the world’s largest and most influential invention exhibitions, this year’s event showcased over 1,000 cutting-edge innovations from nearly 40 countries and regions, spanning key fields such as mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence, healthcare, and green energy.

Led by top-tier universities such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Zhejiang University, the Chinese delegation made a strong showing. Notably, Huzhou University stood out as the only non-“985”/“211” institution from China to participate in the exhibition, drawing wide attention and emerging as one of the event’s highlights.

At this year’s exhibition, the research team led by Professor Wang Zefeng from the Institute of Perception and Intelligent Control, School of Information Engineering, was awarded the Silver Medal for their invention titled “Phase-Difference-Based Bio-Inspired Haptic Sensing Technology.” Recognized for its high-precision environmental perception capabilities, the technology significantly enhances the real-time sensitivity of robotic skin to external pressure, temperature, and texture by mimicking the phase-difference feedback mechanism of biological neural systems. It has already been successfully applied in the tactile sensing systems of exoskeleton robots, offering safer and smarter solutions for fields such as medical rehabilitation and collaborative industrial robotics. In recent years, Huzhou University has leveraged the development of “New Engineering Disciplines” to align with the demands of emerging industries including intelligent equipment, digital healthcare, and biomedicine. These efforts have led to notable achievements in building high-level research platforms and generating impactful research outcomes, injecting strong momentum into regional economic development.

Founded in 1973, the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions is the world’s longest-running, largest, and most influential event of its kind. Co-organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization, the Swiss Federal Government, the Canton of Geneva, and the City of Geneva, the exhibition annually attracts inventors, innovators, and entrepreneurs from around the globe. Its mission is to showcase cutting-edge inventions and technologies, and to promote international cooperation and exchange in scientific and technological innovation.
