In order to implement the national strategy of digital development in education, promote the application of artificial intelligence in teaching, and boost the construction of digital and intelligent courses, on December 17th, the Inheritance Base of Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture (Sericulture & Silk) of the Ministry of Education at Huzhou University summoned relevant universities from the Yangtze River Delta Sericulture and Silk Culture Education Alliance and held a seminar on the construction of AI-empowered sericulture and silk culture courses and teaching innovation. Experts and scholars from Zhejiang University, Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Zhihuishu Company as well as Huzhou Univerisity (HU) participated in the the meeting, which was chaired by Jin Peihua, the former Party secretary of HU and director of the Sericulture & Silk Culture Base.

　　The seminar included sessions such as reports on the construction of AI-empowered sericulture and silk culture series courses, the launching ceremony of the knowledge graph construction, and workshops on the promotion of smart curriculum construction.

　　During reports on curriculum construction, personnel in charge of HU’s Sericulture & Silk Culture Base introduced the construction system and ideas about the base’s curriculum group. Head of the Zhihuishu shared their ideas about the 101 Plan of the Ministry of Education and introduced the company's relevant measures in the construction of smart courses and curriculum knowledge graphs by presenting outstanding cases that have been completed. Professor Lou Chengfu from Zhejiang University elaborated on the framework of digital and intelligent-empowered curriculum construction and teaching innovation, as well as the teaching reform measures and achievements in artificial intelligence and digital-intelligent empowerment in Zhejiang Province. Wen Yan, associate professor from Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, shared the construction experience of the China University MOOC course Wisdom of Silk and Sericulture-Farming Culture.

　　Several participating experts jointly pressed the start button for the construction of the national smart curriculum and the knowledge graph of the sericulture and silk series courses, marking the official launch of the two construction projects. Subsequently, the participants had a heated discussion on the specific operations of AI-empowered courses, and of the construction methods of smart courses and curriculum knowledge graphs.

　　In his concluding remarks, Jin Peihua pointed out that sericulture and silk culture, as an outstanding part of Chinese traditional culture, is at a crucial stage of transformation and upgrading. Empowering curriculum construction and teaching innovation with AI will contribute to the transformation of sericulture and silk culture in the new era. He emphasized that the state and provincial governments have always attached great importance to the inheritance of outstanding traditional culture, especially as mentioned in the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, To uphold and develop Marxism, it is necessary to integrate it with outstanding traditional Chinese culture. Jin Peihua stated that Huzhou University will continue to cooperate closely with universities in the Yangtze River Delta region to promote the inheritance and innovation of silk culture, especially in the construction of digital courses, integrating resources to form a new teaching model. At the same time, efforts will be made to establish cooperative relations with universities in western China, integrate into the national Belt and Road initiative, and contribute to the domestic and international dissemination and exchange of sericulture and silk culture.

　　Providing new ideas and directions for the construction of sericulture and silk culture courses, this seminar has also pointed out the way forward for relevant universities in the inheritance and innovation of sericulture and silk culture. In the future, the Sericulture and Silk Culture Base of Huzhou University will continue to work hard to contribute wisdom and strength to the prosperous development of sericulture and silk culture.
