On the afternoon of November 16th, 2016 international students opening ceremony and award ceremony of Zhejiang provincial government scholarship for international students were grandly held in our university. President Zhang Liqin, Director of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Huzhou Sun Hulin attended. There’re about 400 people who took part in the ceremony including related personnel who came from functional Departments such as President’s Office, Academic Affairs Office, Foreign Affairs Office, Planning Finance Office, Students’ Affairs Division, Security Office, Asset and Logistics Management Office, and secondary colleges such as Business College, Social Development and Management College, Physical Education College, Liberal Arts College, Foreign Languages College, Art College, Information Engineering College, Engineering College, International College, and 213 fresh international students from 31 countries of grade 2016, and representatives of international students who got Zhejiang provincial government scholarship for international students, representatives of foreign teachers and international students aiming at degrees.

    In the ceremony, President Zhang Liqin extended a warmly welcome to international students studying in our university who came from “One Belt, One Road” country, congratulated students who got the Zhejiang provincial government scholarship for international students. He said our university was an ideal place for “studying in China”, because our university was rooted in Huzhou city which had a profound cultural foundation, we had a long history in international students education, we possessed a good teaching environment and experienced teachers. And especially the opening of Confucius Institute which built together by our university and Azerbaijan Language University this year, we made a new breakthrough in Chinese language international promotion and educational exchange for Zhejiang province in “One Belt, One Road” country. He made three suggestions for those international students, first, great virtue can carry all things, to be a man with gentleman’s virtue; second, make unceasing efforts to improve yourself, to be a man with goals pursuing; last, carry out by actual efforts, to be a man with social responsibility. He hoped students who got the scholarship can make persistent efforts and continue to push and perfect himself, becoming examples of the freshmen and leading them to realize their dreams in Huzhou, a quiet and exquisite city of south of the Yangtze River, and can also make achievements in “One Belt, One Road” plan.

    Representative of the new students Shahenasi who came from Russia said the opening ceremony symbolized a new beginning of studying professional knowledge. She would start a new studying and lifetime in Huzhou Normal University, and would cherish time and got the best opportunity to grow fast and express herself.

    In the ceremony, our university gave the awards to excellent international students who had the “Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students”. It’s reported that the scholarship is a special scholarship established by Zhejiang provincial government. It aims to attract and encourage excellent overseas students to study in Zhejiang. 7 international students in our university got a scholarship of class B and C respectively.

    Wang Yifan, a sophomore of Business College who came from Bengal, was one of the two students who the scholarship of class B. He said Huzhou Normal University was a warm family and he felt very happy to live and study here. And he said he would study harder and become a model for the new students, living a wonderful life of himself.

    It’s reported that there’re about 400 students studying and exchanging in our university, and international students aiming at degrees were more than 70%, outnumbered language pre-college students for the first time. There’re 3 colleges offered English-teaching class for international students seeking to degrees, 8 colleges received international students aiming at degrees with Chinese-teaching. With joint efforts of our university, education internationalization in our university has worked well and international majors have developed rapidly, international students education has matured steadily.
